THE CAST OF CHARACTERS
This site is dedicated to bringing the talents, insights, humor and creativity of nationally published author/illustrator Larry Shles to a wider audience.

Larry taught high school science for over 20 years before discovering some heretofore hidden talents.  At the age of 42 he began drawing and writing.  As you browse this site you will be able to enjoy the fruits of this mid-life journey into passion and productivity.

Now explore the worlds of Squib, Scooter, Geoffrey, Rodney and Tabitha as they wriggle, struggle and eventually triumph in the books and videotapes written and illustrated by Larry Shles.

Squib is a young owl who tries to understand the dilemmas that confront him. Join in his journeys  as he copes with school struggles, learning disabilities, teenage siblings, self-esteem issues and complex emotions.
"Andrew, when I become a star, will you
come see my games?"
     "I wouldn't miss a one!  I believe in you,
Squib!  I'll practice with you every day until you become that star."

Scooter begins life as a squirrel who has the world by his tail.  Soon he is introduced to the pleasures of a vine that appears at his tree.  Join him in this series of books as he struggles to cope with and survive the challenges of addiction.

Then Buzz moved close.  "Everybody's doing it," he whispered to Scooter.  "You have no idea what joys the vine will bring.  The vine will be there forever for you.  And once you use the vine, your tail will never fail you."
